Ireland pictures : Gallery 2 : Road to Mulrany, Co Mayo
This view was taken looking due south on the road from Erris to Mulrany in County Mayo, Ireland. The village of Mulrany is located at the far side of the foothills seen in the middle distance. These hills form part of the Nephin Beg range and rise to the east to the peak of Cushcamcarragh at 714m. Erris, in north Mayo, is reportedly the setting for J.M. Synge's controversial drama 'The Playboy of the Western World', which also contains several Achill references. This area of north Mayo is one of the most remote in Ireland and is a haven for birdlife. |
